KIDDOS Draw their FAVORITE STORY from the Kings of Israel

I LOVE KIDDOS!!!  I LOVE it when KIDDOS draw pictures!!!  I LOVE it when KIDDOS draw pictures about BIBLE STORIES!!!

I wanted to share with you some of the PICTURES my KIDDOS drew on our REVIEW SUNDAY.  You see, I told the KIDDOS they could draw their FAVORITE STORY  from the Lessons we had on the Northern Nation/Kings of Israel.

Then I had the KIDDOS tell me WHAT they drew--I label the picture.  Then the KIDDOS had to tell me the STORY from their picture.  I wrote down the words of the KIDDOS.

This picture was drawn by one of the BOYS in my class.  He just turned 6.  He LOVED the story of NAAMAN!!!   I love that he remembered that the Jordan River was dirty.

This picture is by my oldest KIDDO.  She is 7.  She LOVED the story of Jonah.  I LOVE this picture!!

This picture was drawn by one of the GIRLS in my class.  She really loved the story of NAAMAN.  I LOVE the FLOCK of yellow birds.  (I had to ask here what those were.  :-))

This picture was drawn by a 5 year old little girl. I was wondering what she was drawing...After, she began to explain her picture, I was so excited.  She drew the story of Elisha making an Axe Head Float.  She even remembered that Elisha tossed a stick into the Jordan to cause the Axe Head to float.

This picture really excited me.  This little boy is barely 4.  When he began drawing the red circles I was not sure...then he drew the BLUE for Heaven and the Green Man is Elijah and that Square Scribble of blue is his Chariot!!!!  I was in awe as he began telling me the story using his picture as his "visual aid."

BTW, Just wanted to let you know--I laminated each of these drawings.  They are so PRECIOUS!!!   I am thinking about keeping them long enough to buy some inexpensive 8x10 frames and then FRAMING their ARTWORK and then let them give it to their Dad  as a Father's Day Gift.

Allowing the KIDDOS to FREE DRAW me a story allowed me to TEST the KIDDOS.  I was very PLEASED with their ability to RECALL and RETELL me the stories!!!  This is one HAPPY BIBLE CLASS Teacher!!!!

Review Northern Nation of Israel & Conference

WOW!!!!  We have had a WONDERFUL Adventure Exploring through the History of the Northern Nation of Israel.  This SUNDAY brings this series of lessons to a close.  So, we will have a Review and Conference Sunday.  During class time we will review ALL that we covered....AT the end of class I will have a short conference with the parents...and the KIDDOS will get to take home their EXPLORER JOURNALS!

The KIDDOS were introduced to KINGS and PROPHETS!!!!   We were very busy during these lessons....We learned SOOOO much!!!  I LOVE looking back at what the KIDDOS made as their "TAKE HOME" activity.

We started out learning about the KINGDOM Dividing and ended up with Israel going into Assyrian Captivity.  This Sunday we will have our REVIEW of ALL the LESSONS we covered on the KINGS of ISRAEL.    I am excited to see what the KIDDOS remember about each story.

I will also challenge the KIDDOS to recall their PAST Memory Verses.  Since all the MEMORY Verses have been sung to a tune...it should be fairly easy to for the KIDDOS to say them.  I also have the Memory Verses on display for the KIDDOS.  That will help the KIDDOS recall the Memory Verses.

have the KIDDOS past activities on DISPLAY....I also have my 19 LITTLE KINGS of Israel lined up on the FRONT of the TABLE.  This will be handy when we sing the Kings of Israel song.

Beneath the TABLE you will see the KIDDO'S Explorer Journals.  They are excited about taking them home this week.  (I let them know this past Sunday that they were going to get to take home their Explorer Journal next week....immediately there was JOY amongst the KIDDOS.)

It is really FUN to see all our PAST ACTIVITES again.  I can't help but SMILE when I see these activites again.  We WORKED so hard and LEARNED so much while really having a "FUN" time learning!!!

The KIDDOS will also talk about the "Explorer Journal" Activity Display.  I think it is important to display past lessons...after all, I don't want the KIDDOS to forget something that they have learned.

To help with our review we have been working on this "CHART."  I have 19 different KINGS stuck to the white board....I wrote a KINGS Name next to each of the little KINGS...and the KIDDOS have helped fill in the BOARD with information they remembered about the Kings.  This has been challenging and fun for the KIDDOS.   They began working on this while I was gone to FLORIDA and we continued working on it once I returned home.

I have enjoyed teaching the KIDDOS the HISTORY of the NORTHERN NATION of Israel.  I was met with a few challenges along the way...These are not necessarily the easiest lessons to teach 4-8 years olds...but, SO WORTH teaching to them.  There has been so many opportunities for me to talk about GODLY BEHAVIOR, OBEDIENCE, DEDICATION, etc.

Blessings,

Kings of Israel REVIEW for the KIDDOS

I am traveling this week... My HUBBY and I are headed to Florida College to attend a week of Bible Lectures.  It is such a rejuvenation for me.  I also get time to PERUSE the College Bookstore that is filled with various materials PERFECT for Bible Studies and Bible Classes!!!!  I am very excited!!!!

I wanted the KIDDOS to have some FUN reviewing the KINGS of ISRAEL while I am gone.  So, I left a few things for my CO-Teacher to do with the KIDDOS.

My co-teacher is my daughter and she has an AMAZING voice.  So,  I am going to have her SING several songs with the KIDDOS.  ESPECIALLY the  KINGS OF ISRAEL song.

The KIDDOS will REVIEW the HISTORY of the KINGS of ISRAEL.  REMEMBERING that NOT ONE of the KINGS was GODLY!   They will NAME all the KINGS and give any FACT that they can RECALL from the KINGS LIFE.

I have 19 little FINGER PUPPET KINGS that they will COUNT and NAME.    BTW, these came from Oriental Trading Company.  They were part of a "NATIVITY" set...but, I PURCHASED enough sets to get me the 19 Kings of Israel and all the Kings of Judah.

They will use these KING FACTS CARDS to help with the REVIEW as well.  These have KINGS NAMES and FACTS on them and will be GREAT for reviewing the KINGS.

After reviewing facts about the various the KINGS of Israel, the KIDDOS will get to play The "KINGS of ISRAEL MATCH GAME."

They will have to answer a REVIEW QUESTION to get an opportunity to try to find a MATCH.

The KIDDOS will  get to MAKE their own KINGS of ISRAEL "TRADING CARDS."

We are going to MAKE this SPECIAL by allowing the KIDDOS to use various media.  Markers, Colored Pencils, etc.
This ACTIVITY will be finished over the NEXT 3 Class Periods.  That way the KIDDOS do not feel RUSHED to finished this project.

I hate being away from the KIDDOS...but, I always try to LEAVE behind something "FUN" for them to do.  I am excited to see what their TRADING CARDS look like.

A BIG FISH Story. Jonah the Prophet

I am so EXCITED about this LESSON.  I know the KIDDOS will LOVE this one!!!!   It is a WONDERFUL story and teaches the KIDDOS so many attributes of GOD.  HE is ALL KNOWING.  HE is ALL POWERFUL.  HE is ALWAYS PRESENT!    GOD is TRULY AMAZING!!!!  This is a GREAT story to TEACH the WONDERFUL NATURE of GOD!  It is also an opportunity to TEACH about OBEDIENCE, RESPONSIBILITIES and the NEED NOT to be PREJUDICE and REPENTANCE.

I will be TAKING LOTS OF PICTURES this SUNDAY!

Each KIDDO will be allowed to get into the "WHALE" and we will TAKE their PICTURE!
I am thinking the PICS might be fun for the KIDDOS to give their MOMS for Mother's Day in MAY!!

This was super EASY to MAKE!!!  I used a KID size Pop Up PLAY TENT.  I draped it with a KING SIZE blue sheet (blue sheets are WONDERFUL to keep in your supply room!!)  added the eyes (made the eyes out of felt and attached them with DUCT tape) and gathered the back to look like a tail.  WALLA!!!!  Easy Peasy WHALE!!!

I want to make sure the KIDDOS understand what it means to REPENT.  So, we will be adding the word "REPENT" to our WORD WALL!

We have added JONAH to our "GOD'S AWESOME PLAN for MAN" wall.  This wall is a type of TIME LINE.  It allows the opportunity for the KIDDOS to SEE the BIBLE stories that we have already learned.  It is a wonderful REVIEW TOOL.

The KIDDOS memory verses for this lesson is  2 Corinthians 7:10.  I thought it was appropriate for this lesson.  I want the KIDDOS to understand what TRUE REPENTANCE means to GOD.  We will sing this to a "Ronda Original" tune.

NINEVAH
This week we will be adding several NEW places to our MAP WALL.  NOW, if you look closely you will NOTICE I somehow did NOT include a NINEVEH in this PICTURE.  BUT, never fear, once I realized my GOOF...I took one more picture.   BTW, if you notice I put our PAST LESSONS, EXPLORER JOURNAL ACTIVITY, up around the MAP.  This is a GREAT WAY to quickly REVIEW!  our PAST LESSONS.  It HELPS me REMIND the KIDDOS of these LESSONS!

IT also lets PARENTS "PEEK" in and SEE some of the activities the KIDDOS have been doing on the weeks when the KIDDOS do NOT take home their ACTIVITY.  Remember, I COLLECT all the "EXPLORER JOURNAL" ACTIVITIES and place them in their "EXPLORER JOURNALS."  The KIDDOS take those JOURNALS home at the END of a QUARTER.

The KIDDOS "TAKE HOME" Activity this week begins with a SMALL "milk" jug. These jugs actually came with FRUIT PUNCH in them.   I have collected these for a LOOONG time.  The are such a SWEET size and will work perfectly for the KIDDOS.  However, I have made these before with the GALLON size!!  Those are fun too!!!  But, I had these little finger puppets from ORIENTAL TRADING and the GALLON one would have been HUGE in comparison.

I spray painted them gray.  I then made a "TAIL" out of GRAY foam and hot glued it to the CAP.  During CLASS the KIDDOS will ADD the eyes.  (To expedite this, I have stuck Double Stick FOAM dots to the back of the eyes.  That way it is a PEEL and STICK activity!)

NOW, about those LITTLE JONAHS.  I had ordered a BUNCH of sets of Nativity Finger Puppets from Oriental Trading...I KNOW these are supposed to be "JOSEPH"  but, for me they are JONAH!!!  So, this is what I did.   I  POKED a small hole in the top of the heads of each of these "JONAHS" and threaded a cord through them and tied it off.   KEEP READING and you will understand WHY!!!  :-)

I have a small hole in the Whale's (GREAT FISH) mouth.  I threaded the other end of the thread through that hole.  That way the KIDDOS get to CATCH Jonah with their GREAT FISH (Whale.)

I think he is so cute sitting in there!!!

I KNOW the KIDDOS are going to LOVE catching JONAH!!!!  We will sing a song as we CATCH JONAH.     If you want to SEE me CATCH JONAH---watch the short video right here.  :-)

This is the SONG we will be singing as we CATCH Jonah with our GREAT FISH (WHALE.)

GOD'S Prophets have been busy!  We have learned a LOT of LIFE lessons through these Prophets.  I LOVE placing the PROPHETS with the KINGS that were REIGNING during the time the PROPHET PROPHESIED.    I want the KIDDOS to see the CONTINUITY of the BIBLE.  Even though we are leaning from the book of Jonah...I want the KIDDOS to know that Jonah was PROPHESYING during the time/life of Jeroboam II

Our REVIEW GAME this week is called "Jonah Is Overboard."  I have had this little "BIBLE TIME" man for a REALLY LONG TIME.  I think he came from a VELCRO SET...but, I got him FREE at a YARDSALE!!!  His clothes are very spongy and the ROUGH side of VELCRO STICKS to him really well.  So, that got me to thinking....I wanted a TOSS JONAH type activity.

The KIDDOS will answer a question for an opportunity to TOSS Jonah at the BOARD...and when he STICKS they have to answer another question!!!

Next week we will REVIEW this LESSON!!!  The KIDDOS will SAY their MEMORY VERSE and they will make their "EXPLORER JOURNAL" Activity.    I wanted the KIDDOS to have a WHALE (GREAT FISH) that they could POKE JONAH in and out from.  So, this is what I came up with....Jonah is actually on a brad---I colored the brad GRAY with a Sharpie---after all, I could not stand a GOLD brad on my GRAY Whale.

Jonah actually ROCKS in and OUT of the WHALE.  I am really happy with the way this turned out....HOWEVER, I may add a "handle" that the KIDDOS can grab so that it is easier to move Jonah in and out.    If I deem it is necessary, I will take another picture and SHARE it with you.

Blessings,

Ronda
