12 Year Old Jesus In The Temple

Our continuing Exploration through the Life of Jesus Has brought us to the time when Jesus was 12 years old.

His family Travels to Jerusalem to Celebrate the Passover and He goes with them.  Of Course, You know the Story.  He gets left behind due to His desire to be in the Temple listening to and asking questions of the teachers.

We added NEW CARDS to our DO You Know? Wall.  My Expectation is for the KIDDOS to be able to answer each of these by the end of the lesson.

For a VISUAL AID, I got out my WOODEN BLOCK TEMPLE.  This TEMPLE was very USEFUL when TEACHING through the KINGS and NOW it is useful when Teaching Through The Life of Christ.  Yes, I am aware there was a destruction and rebuilding of the Temple....But, The KIDDOS LOVE having a 3D Visual!!

We had new words to add to our WORD WALL.  I chose WISDOM, STATURE AND FAVOR.

Our MEMORY VERSE Went Right ALONG with our WORD WALL WORDS!!

We ADDED a new CARD to our GOD'S AWESOME PLAN for MAN Timeline.

We are making progress adding cards about the early life of JESUS.

This is one of those lessons where I have two SONGS to teach the Kiddos.

One is called:   "Jesus Was Twelve Years Old."  To hear this song click on the link.  Jesus Was Twelve Years Old --Song by Ronda Duvall

The other one is  called:  "About My Father's Business."  To hear this song click on this link.  My Father's Business --Song by Ronda Duvall

The KIDDOS TAKE-HOME project was a "Diorama."

I used clipart from a clip-art program I own.  (Sadly, It is no longer available for purchase.)

I drew the TEMPLE a long time ago---any time I need a TEMPLE, I just REUSE it.  I believe in MAKE it ONCE and USE it as MUCH AS I CAN.

The KIDDOS really enjoyed making these DIORAMAS!!

I am so happy I labeled where each piece went!!!  I never want our ACTIVITIES to TAKE UP to much of our CLASS time.  I do about 90% of the work ahead of class time and the KIDDOS do the assembly.

Our Review Game was a "BOARD" style GAME.  (I am begging to wonder if BOARD games are becoming a rarity---I was amazed at how many of the KIDDOS did not know HOW to play a BOARD GAME.)

The KIDDO would use the DIE POPPER and get to move the number they landed on, IF they could answer the question they drew from the pile.  They had to follow the directions on the BOARD.  Those CAMELS got in the WAY!!!  LOL

By The Way, The GAME pieces are tops from BABY FOOD/APPLE SAUCE pouches.  I just asked parents with little-ones to save them for me.  I probably have around 200 saved up.  (I have some ideas for other uses for them,)

As you recall, the second week of the LESSON is when we REVIEW.  It gives me opportunity to correct any misunderstandings.  It gives opportunities to the KIDDOS who missed class the first week to "CATCH UP."  This is the Week we SAY our MEMORY VERSE from MEMORY and we do an ACTIVITY that we add to our EXPLORER JOURNAL.   This LESSONS EXPLORER JOURNAL ACTIVITY was Boy JESUS in the TEMPLE with the teachers and Mary and Joseph "LOOKING" for him.  The KIDDOS colored the Temple and added the STICKERS.  (I used a sticker machine to make the clipart into stickers.)

I am thoroughly enjoying teaching the KIDDOS through the LIFE of CHRIST.  It is exciting to see them get excited about LEARNING more and more about JESUS!!!

BLESSINGS,

RONDA
