Judah Goes Into Captivity in Babylon

WOW, we have come to the END of the study of the KINGS of JUDAH and ISRAEL.    I have enjoyed teaching all these lessons to my KIDDOS.   It is hard to believe that we have reached this point in the HEBREWS history.   Just a reminder, I teach  Early Childhood ages 4 1/2 year olds-7 year olds.

Our Do You Know Wall is ready with our WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? WHERE? WHY? and HOW IS THIS IMPORTANT TO ME?  cards.

Our INFORMATION WALL is ABOUNDING with information on the Divided Kingdom.    All the KINGS have a face that shows if the KING was godly (SMILE) or ungodly (FROWN.)    We have all the KINGS represented!!!

This is our CARD for our "GOD'S AWESOME PLAN FOR MAN" timeline WALL.

I decided to use my CITY of JERUSALEM BLOCKS for my VISUAL AID!    I just printed out some "flames," laminated them and folded the bottoms to make them stand up.  I have the city displayed with the WALLS all knocked down.    I think this will be a very effective VISUAL.

I have several of my wooden peg HEBREWS lined up...they look as if they are being MARCHED off into Babylonian captivity.

I also have a picture of  "Jerusalem and the Temple" on fire...this is sitting on our table.

Our MAP WALL is BUSY...I use this area to display past EXPLORER JOURNAL activities.

We have not had to many PLACES to add to our MAP. But, this week we have a LARGE arrow and Babylon added to the MAP.... I did put Babylon WAY over to the right side.....I want to demonstrate that the Hebrews went WAY away from their homeland.

The KIDDOS will have a new song to sing...It is reminiscent of the "Captivity" song for ISRAEL.   However, this one is ALL about JUDAH.  This is sung to the tune:  "Farmer in the Dell."

If you would like to hear this song, click on the link.  It will route you to the FB page for Hand On Bible Teacher.

Because I want to focus on the NEED for us to TRUST GOD and not be like the nation of JUDAH....I decided to use PROVERBS 5:3 as our MEMORY VERSE.

If you would like to hear the tune for this Memory Verse click the link...it will open the FB page for Hands On Bible Teacher.

The KIDDOS "TAKE HOME" activity is a type of SUBWAY art.    I printed the verse and cut out the heart.  The KIDDOS will get to add their OWN picture to their SUBWAY art.  If the KIDDOS want to color on their SUBWAY art--they can. I want them to enjoy making them and want them to LOOK forward to displaying them.

I decided to use the MEMORY VERSE...I want the KIDDOS to remember to TRUST in the LORD!!!

I purchased the frames and the ribbon at the Dollar Tree.  I have blue and red ribbon.  I will allow the KIDDOS to choose their ribbon color.

I hope the KIDDOS and their parents LOVE these!!!  I think it turned out sweet.

Our REVIEW game is called:  FLAMES and CHAINS Bowling.  The idea is that the KIDDOS will draw a question card, ANSWER the question then get the opportunity to BOWL...IF they get pull a CHAIN card then they get a point for each CHAIN pin they knock down.  If they pull a FLAME card they get a point for each FLAME pin they knock down.  I know they are going to LOVE the BOWLING aspect of this game.  :-)

Next week we will REVIEW this LESSON and the KIDDOS will do their EXPLORER JOURNAL activity.    This activity is a SLIDING type activity.  It is similar to the EXPLORER JOURNAL activity the KIDDOS made, when we learned about Israel going into captivity.

The arrow is sort of 3D...it POPS up off the MAP.  The city of Jerusalem is printed on the MAP.  I cut a slit in the MAP with an razor blade.  In order for the KIDDOS to be able to SLIDE their HEBREWS from Jerusalem to Babylon we will attach their HEBREWS to these small wooden craft stick.    It makes it very easy to slide the Hebrews.

2ND-4TH Graders Class---Classroom Decotations and Ideas. Lapbooks.

How is it that LIFE get soooo crazy.  I have been wanting to SHARE some of the ideas from the 2nd-4th graders Bible Class room.  Please remember, I am NOT the teacher of this WONDERFUL class.   This is a VERY active group of KIDDOS.....I am always AMAZED when I walk into this classroom.

These KIDDOS are learning about JESUS and HIS LAST WEEK ON EARTH.    Our congregation uses Discovering GOD'S Way Curriculum for our 2nd graders-High school curriculum.                                                                                                          Discovery God's Way Curriculum

The teacher has displayed the "GOD'S AWESOME PLAN FOR MAN"  timeline under the windows.

On the "MAP WALL" the teacher has displayed  pictures that show all the events that took place during JESUS' LAST WEEK on EARTH.

The KIDDOS MEMORY VERSE TRACKERS are displayed on this wall as well.

Above the window are various "REALISTIC" pictures of Jesus' Last Week on Earth.

On this LITTLE wall there is a POSTER that shares "ALL ABOUT JESUS" facts to know and remember.

On the WHITE BOARD WALL are displayed items of IMPORTANCE!!  All of these "items" have an important part in  Jesus' Last Week on Earth.

Up high on the wall---that is a CHILD friendly Bible Story Time Line.

I LOVE here "WORD WALL!"  She went with the SEASON.  The KIDDOS will add APPLES and LEAVES with WORDS they "AUTUMN" Know.

Right NEXT to the DOOR, the TEACHER has on DISPLAY all sorts of INFORMATION about the BIBLE.  This display is normally up on the wall in this classroom.....It gets moved around a bit.  I really like it here.

I LOVE LAPBOOKS!!!    This teacher is GREAT with LAPBOOKS.    She takes the KIDDOS learning to a HIGHER level....she does not "just" do the LESSON...she gets the KIDDOS involved in learning through the making of LAPBOOKS.

Since I feel LIKE a PICTURE is WORTH a THOUSAND WORDS.  Please ENJOY the PICS.

The KIDDOS added a "BOTTLE of OIL."

The KIDDOS added "PALM LEAVES" foam stickers.

Small brass brads make great "COINS" for when Jesus overturned the money changers tables.

They have pages that FLIP, TURN and OPEN.  I LOVE the adventure of LAPBOOKS.

Adding a toy golden COIN...adds some BLING.

Another page that FLIPS open for more information!!

Coloring in GOLD SHARPIE is so exciting for KIDDOS.  LOL

Adding SILVER brads make this an exciting page to MAKE and REVIEW.

They still have several more lessons....I hope to be able to share their progression.  I LOVE seeing WHAT other BIBLE CLASS Teachers DO!!!  Hope you enjoyed this POST.

Blessings,

Ronda

Jeremiah & The Potter

We are moving forward in our lessons about the Kingdom of Judah.    I am so excited about this lesson....The KIDDOS will be learning how GOD is the POTTER and we are the clay.

I love our WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE?? WHERE? and WHY? WALL!!!! There is so much information on this WALL.  We use it often for REVIEWING what we have learned in the past!!

We have our DO YOU KNOW? cards ready to go!!

We have three new WORDS for our WORD WALL. The KIDDOS need to know what these words mean in order to understand the lesson.

Our  NEW story card is up on our "GOD'S AWESOME PLAN FOR MAN"  timeline.

This weeks Memory Verse comes directly from the TEXT.  It is GOD'S promise to Jeremiah.  I LOVE the comfort and strength found in this verse!!

If you want to hear the tune we will be singing this Memory Verse to, just click this link below.  It will open up the Facebook Page for HOBT.

The KIDDOS will be learning this SONG during this lesson.  I feel this is a VERY catchy song....so, hopefully they will be singing it throughout the next two weeks.  :-)  I hope their parents do not mind.

If you would like to hear this song click on the link below.  It will open up the Facebook Page for HOBT

I decided to have a 3D visual for this story...So, I used clip art from the cool clip art collection that I have purchased and laminated and cut out Jeremiah and the Potter.  I wanted a  house feel, so I also used clip art from PRINTMASTER to make the background.  Then I made several different vessels out of Crayola Model Magic.  I purchased the terracotta color Model Magic....I think it turned out great.  (And since I am finishing this post---after teaching this lesson, I can tell you the KIDDOS LOVED this visual!!!)

This is the other VISUAL I used.  I had one of these pots on the table as I told the story.  When I got to the part where Jeremiah breaks the clay pot in front of the Priest and elders...I threw this pot down on the ground.  It broke and the KIDDOS were AWE STRUCK!!  They could NOT believe it.  But, it drove home the point...that once it is broken it cannot be fixed again to the former vessel.    It was WONDERFUL to see the KIDDOS so IN TUNED to the LESSON.  :-)

As a TAKE HOME activity I decided I wanted the KIDDOS to be able to MOLD something and then REMOLD something....SO, I decided to use PLAYDOUGH.    (PLEASE forgive these PICTURES---I was working on this project at home....and so, the background is my kitchen....MESS and all.  :-))

I made the labels using my PRINTMASTER program.    I wanted it similar to the actual label that was on the older style cups of Playdough.   It used to have a little boy in a blue beret on the front...so, I inserted a picture of each of the KIDDOS in the blue beret.    Glued them to the containers and called it done.

During class time the KIDDOS were allowed to MOLD a vessel and then REMOLD a new vessel. We talked about how if it drys out and hardens (such as a hardened heart) that it is no longer mold-able---so we cannot afford to allow our heart to harden towards GOD.    Amazingly, the KIDDOS seemed to really GET this point!!!   We talked about how we need to let GOD shape us...so we need to study our Bible.

BTW, this is the container of PLAYDOUGH I had ready---in case we had visitors. I believe we should always treat our guest the same way as we do our regulars....so, make sure to have TAKE HOME projects ready for your guests!

Our Review Game is called "CLAY POT CATASTROPHE."    It is a broken POT---and we are gonna try to put it back together.   I coded the back board with questions and the answers are on the actual "clay pot."

In case you are wondering....this is how I made this game.  I PRINTED a large vase from my Printmaster program....I then traced it onto the backboard....Then I covered the printed pot with Terracotta Colored Crayola Model Magic. It took some ROLLING and STRETCHING to get it covered.  Then I let it dry for a few days.

After it was dry, I cut the jar apart into puzzle pieces.  Then traced the puzzle pieces onto the backboard.  Coded the backboard with the questions and wrote the answers on the "clay pot."

During class time we pass out the pieces of the jar....and when I read a question the one with the correct piece of the jar gets to put it in the correct place on the backboard.  Quick, Easy and Fun.

Next week is our REVIEW week.   Next week the KIDDOS will be making this to add to their EXPLORER JOURNAL.

The 3D pot is made from the same Model Magic that I made my bigger version for the Review Game.  I just shaped them in the same way and the KIDDOS will add them to their Explorer Journal Activity after they color Jeremiah and the POTTER.

Here are my little "Clay Pots" drying....Remember I made these from Model Magic....They are very light and easy to glue in place.  :-)

Hope you have enjoyed seeing what we are doing in Bible Class.

Blessings,

Ronda
